Talented actor Amit Singh Thakur is back to the Balaji Telefilms family after five long years with Daayan, the horror show on &TV which will keep TV viewers intrigued over the weekends.
He was last seen playing a pivotal role in Ekta Kapoor’s show on Colors, Parichay: Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka.
Says Thakur, “It is like coming home for me. Work on home turf makes me feel comfortable. I was glad to see many crew members on the set with whom I have worked before.”
For Thakur, this will be his first stint in the horror genre. “This is the first time I am into such a concept. This is the genre that has been raking big numbers, and keeping the viewers glued. I too wanted to explore and try something new. I did not expect to play the role of the protagonist Tina Datta’s father. It feels good to be back on TV as the heroine’s father (smiles).”
On the work ambience on the set of Daayan he states, “There is great camaraderie between actors. The team is good. Working on a concept and genre which has been the flavour of the season is a great feeling.”
On the USP of the show, Thakur avers, “Every episode will throw in new eerie plots and the pendulum of suspicion on who the Daayan is will keep hovering from one to another. Every episode has its own mystery element and this makes the show different.”
Ask him if the cast is aware of who the Daayan is and he is quick to say, “Nobody knows. The idea is to keep it as the surprise package. I don’t think it has been decided yet. You never know, who will be the one at the end.”
On his character, he states, “I play a simpleton father from Ujjain. He has a back story with his elder daughter Maanvi, who is depicted to have run from home and is now dead. I hate her a lot and this will come up in the near future.”
On his expectations from the show, he quips, “I was looking forward to bagging a full-time role on TV. Now that I am with Balaji Telefilms, I am enjoying it. I need to appreciate the working method of the cast and crew; all is planned so very well.”
Way to go, Thakur!!
