Ajay Singh Chaudhary the talented actor is presently enjoying a great time playing varied characters on the TV as well as on web medium. He plays the leading man, Ajit Lamba in the Colors show Swaran Ghar. His love for his girl is pure and has lasted a lifetime. In addition to this, Ajay has been part of some amazing scripts for the web.
Ajit Lamba is a simpleton and we wondered whether Ajay misses the glam quotient that the leading man gets to don in a TV show. “I thought a lot and later agreed to play this role. I feel that such a character like Ajit has not been explored on Indian television. I am super happy to portray this character. I am not a model and am an actor. So what I wear does not matter. Ajit is very close to my heart, and I feel empowered playing this character.”
Talking about the equation of Swaran and Ajit, he states, “They know each other from childhood. They never used to live away from each other. After so many years, they have come face to face. Ajit is a man with a lot of principles. He was in touch with Swaran only through Kanwaljeet Bedi after their marriage. Theirs is an ever-lasting bond. Ajit has decided to stand for Swaran, and he will always abide by that. The two of them are special friends. There is a term in Urdu ‘Ruhaani’ – this explains their bond.”
On the feedback got for Ajit, “I have played many kinds of characters till now. The response that I am getting for Ajit from all over the world has been overwhelming. It is a different kind of feeling when you get this feedback. They love Ajit. They see him as the ideal man who is standing up for his friend, who is left all alone after the death of her husband.”
On shooting away from family in Chandigarh, Ajay exclaims, “The decision of doing this show is God’s decision. I had come over to Chandigarh in February this year to shoot for a web series. My family, my wife and daughter are in the USA. I was free from my mind that they are in the USA. So everything fell in place for me to take up this character. Yes, I am away from Mumbai. But acting is my priority and I can stay at any place to act.”
On his web experiences, Ajay avers, “I did my first web series with Apoorva Lakhia titled Crackdown. I have done Bhaukaal Season 2. I have done two more web series for different platforms. I am doing Inspector Avinash. So all are very different characters. I have had enjoyable experiences. I can explore my craft in a very good way by playing an array of characters.”
“The most satisfying moment for me is when I get to play a very different character, something that I have never played before,” he adds.
“Working with Sangita Ghosh is a great experience. We have worked earlier on a show called Rishton Ka Chakravyuh. So it is a reunion for us. We are doing more scenes together for Swaran Ghar. She is an amazing actress. No other actress apart from Sangita is capable of portraying Swaran in the way she does. We both work on our scenes very passionately. It is a learning experience for me,” Ajay expresses.
Before wrapping up, Ajay confides in us that he is hopeful of being offered challenging characters in future.
