Gudi Padwa, which falls on March 30th this year, is a significant festival marking the beginning of the new year for Maharashtrians. It symbolizes fresh starts, new ventures, and positive energy. The Gudi, a decorated flag-like arrangement, is believed to bring prosperity and good fortune into homes while inviting divine blessings for the year ahead. On this auspicious occasion, Rajashree Thakur from the Zee TV show Bas Itna Sa Khwab reflects on her cherished memories and the meaningful way she celebrates Gudi Padwa.

Rajashree Thakur, who essays the role of Avani Trivedi in the Zee TV show says, “Gudi Padwa has always held a special place in my heart. The house is filled with the fragrance of fresh neem leaves and the sweet aroma of Puran Poli and Shrikhand Puri being prepared in the kitchen. I still remember, as a child, watching my mother roll out soft, golden Puran Polis, while I tried shaping them—often ending up with a rather uneven circle! But that never dulled the joy of the festival. This year, I am especially excited to celebrate with my family. We will begin the day by hoisting the Gudi, adorned with a silk saree, sugar garland, and neem leaves—symbolizing victory and prosperity.”

She elaborates on the celebration and says, “Of course, no celebration is complete without savouring the rich sweetness of Shrikhand Puri, paired with the comforting warmth of Puran Poli. But more than the food, it’s the laughter, the stories, and the love of family that make Gudi Padwa truly special. I cherish these moments and look forward to creating even more beautiful memories this year.”
