Popular for his role in the Channel V show, Friends: Conditions Apply, Adnan Khan is blessed with dashing looks and great acting skills. Currently enthralling audience as Kabeer Ahmed in Zee TV’s Ishq Subhan Allah, the actor says, hailing from a Muslim background, has helped him understand the character better.
He says, “I was really excited when I was offered the role. Hailing from a Muslim background, I do resonate, to a large extent, with the culture and teachings of the community and the holy Quran. So, I didn’t have to focus much on preparation. Apart from that, we have a very proficient team and a few experts who have helped us to understand the concept of the show better. The production team had organized fabulous workshops for the entire cast of Ishq Subhan Allah which helped me improve my performance and understand the intricacies of my character thoroughly.”
Sharing more on his role and show, he says, “I play the character of Kabeer Ahmed, a Maulvi who abides by the widely followed, traditional moral ethical code of conduct prescribed by the Shariyat board. He adapts a very traditional practice and approach. Zara (Eisha Singh) and Kabeer have a clash of ideologies and despite that fate/destiny bring them together. I am really looking forward to the show and I hope that audiences enjoy it.”
Adnan feels that he started acting really late in life. “I was born in Bombay but I was raised in Dubai. My entire family is in Dubai and is typically into finance and real-estate. I started acting really late in life. I was a part of a small play in school but it didn’t spark any interest in me back then. It was when I saw a Hollywood film that it compelled me to pursue acting. In Dubai, I was a part of a short film and also participated in a theatre festival called ‘Short and Sweet festival’. When I moved from Dubai to Bombay, I joined Anupam Kher’s acting studio, Actor Prepares. My first show was based on cops, called Arjun. However, Channel V gave me an opportunity to portray a significant role as a villain in the show Friends: Conditions Apply and that gave me my first big break.”
Apart from acting, he loves writing. Talking about the same, he adds, “I have recently written two features and am pitching it to multiple production houses. Also, I have written another short-film which I am looking forward to direct whenever time permits. I really love films and therefore I want to learn better, know more about the camera and this eventually helps me in enhancing my skills as an actor.”
Well said boy!
