#HappyIndependenceDay: The athletes of our country set an example for the future generation: Sunayana Fozdar

Sunayana Fozdar talks about Independence Day

Independence Day holds special significance in all our hearts. Not only does August 15 mark the day India gained independence from 200-year-old colonial rule, but Independence Day also serves as a reminder of all the virtues, pride, colourful history, cultural richness, diversity and landscapes which we must all feel proud to call our homeland. In conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Sunayana Fozdar aka our very own Anjali Bhabhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah spoke about the special occasion.

How proud do you feel about the Olympic wins this year?

I feel immense pride in the fact we brought home seven medals; Gold, silver, and bronze, proving again that it does not matter where you come from, hard work and perseverance are the most important. The athletes of our country set an example for the future generation.

Any moment from the school day Independence Day celebration?

As a child in school, I remember we would be in school for our flag hoisting ceremony, I loved the memory of we would performing to patriotic songs it was such an event.

India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day, what is the one thing, we are yet to get freedom from according to you?

Women’s safety of course. I feel is still an obvious concern. So true freedom in that sense where we can truly feel independent of making choices whether it’s safety choices or equal opportunities. Independence from lack of basic necessities that are still unavailable to a large number of populations, causing poverty and a lack of education. We need independence from these things. We can’t be slaves of these factors for sure.

Any fav patriotic song?

Ae Mere Watan Ke logon it’s beautifully sung by Lataji.

Any final message

It’s special to me because my grandfather was in the army man too and this song was dedicated to our soldiers who sacrifice their all for us, our nation.
