Namita Dubey, who plays the grieving Harshad Chopda’s dead cheating wife Pooja, in Colors show Bepannah (Cinevistaas), is pleasantly surprised by the absence of mass trolling by Harshad fans.
Says the actress, “People have been good to me. I have not got too much hate. I guess fans have also matured a lot and now distinguish between onscreen and real life. On the contrary, our chemistry has been appreciated. The fact that the initial scenes between us are also quite light has helped. Also, I have tried to play Pooja in such a way that she is not deliberately intending to harm anyone (Aditya). There could be reasons for what she had done. I wish to make it clear that in no way am I trying to justifying cheating. What and why is the journey of my character.”
“What I really find heartening is that my limited screen-time efforts are being noticed in the ensemble cast, which encourages me to further raise the bar. Luckily, I have not been compared to Jennifer Winget, since we don’t have many joint scenes, Namita adds.
How is the experience of working with seniors like Jennifer, Harshad and others? “Being only my second show (after Bade Bhaiya Ki Dulhania), I regard this as a learning curve, picking up from the work ethics of the above seniors i.e. how to conduct themselves on set, face the pressure, and last but not the least, survive out here for years. They have endeared themselves to their fans through sheer hard work.”
In closing, we ask her about the dip in numbers (down from 2.4 to 1.8), “Ratings are not in our hands. Having said that, we need to keep our audience engaged. You have to accept that our story is not run of the mill. Last but not the least, even the IPL has started. From our side, we all our putting our best foot forward. We will not contrive a plot to lift the numbers; we have full faith in our story, which is just starting to open up.”
Wish you luck, Namita!!
