Shakti Mohan is a remarkable woman who rose to prominence as a result of her extraordinary dancing abilities.
When Shakti decided to cut her hair short, she raised a few eyebrows. This was met with a barrage of negative feedback from her fans. ‘We live in a world where we have constructed this concept of what a girl or boy should look like,’ she explained. “Society has established a few categories depending on which genders are discriminated against. We unconsciously follow these ideas, but I don’t think they’re true. Self-confidence and contentment are really important to me.”
‘People did tell me that I looked better with long hair,’ she remarked when asked about the other responses she received on her new haircut. But I don’t care what other people think because I’m being myself and that’s how I want to be.’ ‘I like my hair the way it is right now.’
On the other hand, the renowned choreographer has come a long way in her career. She’s now a judge on a reality show, which is quite a feat in and of itself. She began judging Dance Plus, a reality show about dance competitions, in Seasons 1-4. She collaborated with composer Mohammed Fairouz to create a dance music video with her sisters in 2012. Mohan also launched a YouTube channel where she teaches people how to dance. Shakti is currently working on a song for Ranbir Kapoor’s forthcoming film Shamshera.
