Here’s What Aamna Sharif Has To Say About Discrimination: “I Still Face It And…”

Check out what Amna Sharif has to say about the discrimination she has faced in the industry and how she is still facing it.

Aamna Sharif is an actress who has dabbled in a variety of mediums. She’s made a name for herself on television, and in Bollywood films, and now she’s making inroads into OTT. Aamna’s web series Aadha Ishq debuted on Voot just a few days ago, and BollywoodLife recently chatted with her about how TV actresses experience discrimination in Bollywood and how they aren’t given main roles since they come from the television industry. Actresses like Hina Khan and Devoleena Bhattacharjee commented about it just a few days ago.

“I still face it, and of course, I faced it then,” Aamna Sharif replied when asked if she suffered any discrimination while transitioning from television to movies. “I’m glad I went through that experience; I wouldn’t alter a thing. However, I believe that after filming Aloo Chaat and Ek Villain, I would have had bigger offers. Even if things have changed, I still suffer discrimination.”

Aamna also explained how, after auditions and look testing, she was not chosen for a project. “I had done tryouts and a look test for a particular character, and the directors adored me,” she explained. “However, because I come from a television background, the platform didn’t go ahead with me. So, while I believe that way of thinking needs to change, I believe that people should accept an actor for who he or she is, not for the background from which he or she comes. People should move forward with me as long as I can perform in front of the camera and meet the bill.”
