It is high time that we formalize marital courtship in our society: Lataa Saberwal 1

Known for its progressive take on relationships and marriage, StarPlus’ show Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke has garnered immense love and appreciation from fans and viewers. The show that is a millennial take on situations currently focuses on Mishti’s demand for marital courtship. Supporting Mishti (Rhea Sharma), her Badi Maa, Rajshri is seen as a pillar of strength in her life. Sharing similar views with her on-screen character Rajshri, Lataa Saberwal has a refreshing take on the concept.

The actress reveals, “The concept of marital courtship is fairly new in the Indian society and has gained popularity only in recent times. A girl and a boy getting to know each other before marriage is still seen as a stigma today. Millennials like Mishti (Rhea Sharma) know what they want from their life partner and want to take their time to know the person before making a bigger commitment like marriage. I strongly believe that elders who play a major role in their daughters’ marriage should trust their children, their upbringing and encourage their girls to get to know their life partner better. It is high time we formalize this concept in society and respect the decision of the young in the family.

Rajshri who has always been cautious about every decision she takes eventually agrees with Mishti’s point of view and calls for a social gathering where Kunal (Ritvik Arora) and Mishti get a chance to know each other in front of other people present, thus reinforcing the concept. I feel really happy that we as actors are playing our part in sending a message to our audiences.”

With its incessant surprises, twists, and turns, viewers are in for some enthralling episodes as the show progresses.
