Geetanjali Tikekar is enjoying playing the main vamp in Colors’ supernatural show, Naagin – Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel. “I am trying to add my own elements to the negative character.”

Here Geetanjali admitted that the first episode of Naagin 4 was quite gory, with her character Vaishali and others slaying the entire post-marriage family of the snake woman Maanyata, played by Sayantani Ghosh.

“I did not let my son watch it. Having said that, I will not want to comment, for having done worse on screen before, it would amount to hypocrisy.”

Geetanjali is still known as the original Kasautii Zindagii Kay good wife Aparna, who turned negative overnight. “At first, I was a bit hesitant, but then went ahead with the creative vision of producer Ekta Kapoor. And the rest, as they say, is history.”

Her other well-known TV shows have been Karam Apna Apna, Jersey No 10 and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?…Ek Baar Phir.

Geetanaji would not mind if her human character in Naagin gets some supernatural powers. “I just love what Sayantani does. Having done several genres before, this was the only box that remained to be ticked. Let’s face it, audiences lap it up, so why not join the bandwagon?”

Unlike other TV actors, she is not very enthusiastic about web, given its bold quotient. “I am quite satisfied with daily shows.”

Shifting gears to her husband Sikandar Kharbanda, who is also part of Naagin 4, she says, “I am very lucky to have got a husband who is proud of his wife’s achievements, unlike many other men who get insecure when their wives are more known than them.”

“I guess his magnanimity and self-confidence stems from the fact that he has been brought up by a strong single mom who lives with us. Both I and his mother are the strongest anchors of his life.”

“At first, when he was sounded out for Naagin 4, he asked me if it was comfortable having him on set. He was clear that he will not say yes if I had second thoughts, as my character in the show is bigger than his. I told him to carry on. And having him around also means that I don’t need to drive back home.”

They had met on the sets of Kasautii and dated for a couple of years, before tying the knot in 2008.
