Alice Kaushik the talented young actress has arrived!! Yes, this is exactly the feeling that we get when we watch her in action in Star Plus’ show Pandya Store produced by Sphere Origins. Alice who has earlier been part of TV shows Kaatelal & Sons, Suryaputra Karn, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum etc, has proved her credentials in a big way in the role of Raavi Pandya in the above-mentioned Star Plus show.
We are sure that viewers have already fallen in love with the character of Raavi and also with the way Alice has worked out her character so very well.
In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Alice tells us about her role and how special this one is for her.
Excerpts:
We simply fell in love with Raavi’s lively innocent lover image. How was that phase for you?
Raavi was never afraid of wearing her heart on her sleeves. As for me, I grew up watching a lot of Disney movies and fairy tales. So I could connect with Raavi’s innocent lover image. I feel that connection and feel that she is a part of me. In love, she was this ball of happiness and joy, who had this magic in her waiting to explode. I had a lot of fun channeling the positive exuberant vibe and radiance that defined her.
Your character has changed considerably now with a 360 degree turn to it post marriage. How have you tackled the transition in character?
It was sort of overwhelming because I was super-attached to the character. She had adored this guy since childhood and had dreamt of marrying Dev and becoming a part of the Pandya family. Her life revolved around that idea, and that’s what I was playing it from the beginning, till the time all got shattered in front of her. She did not see the heartbreak coming as she had not thought of this possibility, where her love was not reciprocated. To know that she was alone throughout the journey of loving him and wanting him, was something that she could not handle. That’s exactly what I wanted to bring to the screen, and so quite naturally, it made me go tap into the myriad of emotions. I just felt it all and my heart reached out to her.
How do you feel for Raavi as an individual given the pain she is going through?
Even after going through what she went through, Raavi did not become bitter towards others. She was hurt, yes, she was disappointed, but she did not become a cynic. She is handling all the pain with a lot of grace, keeping her values intact which are very important. She is trying to move on in life instead of sulking. I admire her for her strength and I hope she finds all the happiness that she deserves in life.
What do you like the most in Raavi?
I like the innocence and purity that she has within her. More than anything, I just love her will to live, no matter what. There is no malice in her heart.
Tell us about your chemistry with Kanwar Dhillon. Shiva and Raavi have got a good fan following in a quick time.
Kanwar is an amazing co-actor and he has done a lot of work. He is very supportive while performing our scenes. There is a lot of give and take. We have become really good friends and enjoy doing our scenes. We talk a lot and connect. The banter that you see on screen is what happens usually off the screen. We have this wonderful bond. He is an amazing human being who is kind and warm. It is really easy to work with him. Both of us are hard workers. We respect our work and that’s why our chemistry comes out really well onscreen. As for the fan following, a big thanks to the makers and writers for writing our characters and scenes so beautifully. Also thanks to the fans for supporting us so much. I feel blessed.
What are your expectations from this role?
Well, my expectations from this character would be that this character evolves as a much more strong-headed person and that she can take charge of her life and grow as a person. I don’t want Raavi to lose her charm.
How important is this show and role for you?
This show is as important as Virat Kohli going and playing the World Cup Finals (smiles). To be honest, this is a big opportunity for me to explore my skills and execute it to the best of my abilities. I am working with a good production house, a big channel. Now I am spending my time, cherishing every bit of it. The cast and crew is very friendly, it has become like a big family. I hope that we become the No 1 show because we put our hearts and soul into it. We love our show, and we know that our fans are so loyal and amazing.
