Aparna Dixit has recently entered the Star Bharat show Woh Toh Hai Albelaa in the role of Anjali. She is having a whale of a time and is happy and contented to have picked up this role.
We at IWMBuzz.com get into a conversation with her, on this new role and show.
Excerpts:
You have picked up smaller roles and new roles in ongoing shows in your last few ventures? What made you take them?
I will not say they are smaller roles, I will say they are more substantial roles. I feel a role holds importance if it has substance, even if they are short. Short roles are impactful at times. Also, it gives me a good balance of work and personal life. It lets me enjoy my time with family, travel, take up other projects too. So it is a change of lifestyle that I am experiencing in my life after years.
How has your journey been in Woh Toh Hai Albelaa?
When I was signing the show, I was happy that I am doing it. Now after being in the show for one month and knowing how the role has shaped up, I am very happy to be playing Anjali in Woh Toh Hai Albelaa. Anjali is very relatable, positive, and loves Kanha. She likes to respect elders. Working with Shaheer, Hiba, Kinshuk, Anuj has been enjoyable.
What is the basic actor preference when a role comes to you?
All I care bout is how is the story and how is my character. I have played around 8-9 characters, so I want my new character to give me a new experience. It is the gut feeling that every actor has about certain roles and shows. So I go with the flow.
Lesser reach channels do not do well with ratings. How tough is it to accept or decline such offers as a performer?
Yes, certain channels indeed have a lesser reach. But for actors, we put in the same amount of work and effort. But these things are not in our control. I want to give in my best. Every channel has grown from being a small one to a big one. So you never know what the future holds. I will believe that whoever is seeing my show should resonate with them. Secondly, I am always positive that my role will do good for the show and channel. So if the story is good enough, I will rather take it without thinking of the channel having a comparatively lesser reach.
How is it to work with actors like Shaheer, Anuj, Hiba?
I have mostly shot with Shaheer. Now I have started doing scenes with his family. All the scenes are coming out nicely. It is a chirpy environment on the set.
What are the kind of roles that you like?
I want to try every role in my life. When I look back at senior actors, I want to be like them and get the kind of experience they have got. Art connects to people in a big way and I want to keep acting.
Are you game for bolder roles probably for the web medium?
No, I am not at all comfortable playing bold roles. I appreciate such things as an audience, but I am not comfortable doing them right now.
Do you believe in actors having a second profession?
Yes, there has to be a second profession. There is always a phase as an actor where you are not as busy as you used to be. In such cases, you need to have the best energy. You need all the patience to pick the best. One should not pick up anything because you are in need. To deviate our minds it is important to have a different profession also.
