India is marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr B.R Ambedkar, known as the architect of the Indian constitution, today on April 14. Actress Sanchita Ugale, who plays the lead role of Sukoon in the popular drama on Dangal, Dilwali Dulha Le Jayengi talks about getting inspired by him.
A deeply revered figure in Indian politics, Dr Ambedkar was a jurist, economist and social reformer, popularly known as Babasaheb.
She says, “I always enjoy reading books about Dr Ambedkar. Every time I read his books, I draw inspiration from his life. He is known as the man who had the greatest contribution in framing the constitution of the country; the constitution that enables us to live in a democratic republic. Having framed the Constitution, he made us aware of the responsibility that we bear towards our Nation and he inspired the nation’s youth to be the change bearers of the society.”
She continues, “The two aspects that create emancipation in the society are education and youth. And the two were closest to his heart. He has been a teacher in the truest sense, endeavouring to imbue the youth with morals and ideals that will fare them through the journey of life but with a strong sense of duty towards their country.”
The actress wishes to use her craft to inspire people and bring positive changes in society. “I feel TV as a medium successfully helped to highlight the issues society faces. The stories shown on several occasions have helped to educate the audience and bring positive changes. So as an artist somehow I feel following the path shown by Ambedkarji.”
Sanchita is known for her previous roles in Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya, as well as films like Silence 2 and Chhaava, among others.
