From choreography to being an actor, how does it feel to don a role for TV?

It feels amazing. It feels new and fresh. The 12 years of monotony finally came to an end and how – a big show, a big channel, a big production house, with very good actors around. I am getting to learn so much and getting to showcase a different side of me.

How is the role of Ruturaj treating you?

It is treating me well. It shows me some different sides of a person, who you can live and have fun with. Ruturaj as a character teaches me a lot. As a character and an actor, we both are growing. I want this character to be real.

What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?

Valentine’s Day is just another day. Sanam as a person is very romantic. This is one attribute I share with Ruturaj. Both are super-romantic. So any day seems like a Valentine’s Day for me.

The only advice that was given by all was to take any kind of criticism as a learning, not take it to heart and be patient.

What are your plans this Valentine’s?

Plans for this Valentine’s will be working and shooting, I guess. But with whatever time I get with my partner Abigail Pandey, I will try to do anything to make her happy. It can be having a heart-to-heart conversation with her.

What is the one thing you want from your loved ones this Valentine’s?

I want forgiveness from my loved ones as I have been spending less time with them. Yes, I am busy with my show now and they are proud of me. But my family and close friends feel that I am not around them more often. So I would want their forgiveness and prayers as I am working hard. They gave me the strength to work hard, so yes, forgiveness is what I can ask for.

Getting back to acting, is there any golden advice that you got from well-wishers, family or friends from the industry?

Family, friends and well-wishers know me in and out. They know that I have been patient. They know that the hectic schedule of a daily soap can get on anybody’s nerves. Along with a lot of hard work comes judgments too. The only advice that was given by all was to take any kind of criticism as a learning, not take it to heart and be patient.
