Abhishek Malik, who is seen as the leading man Neel in Zee TV’s Jamai No. 1, which is produced by Studio LSD, believes a character should also go through ups and downs in a show to make it more relatable. He said, “Everything can’t be hunky-dory for everyone, and there are situations where a character has to go through a range of emotions in reel life.”
“For instance, if a character is playing the lead as a good guy, he must portray various emotions for the audience to connect with him. Every character needs to explore both positive and negative shades. These moments, whether sad, emotional, or intense, make the story more relatable and engaging,” he added.
He also teased a little about the upcoming twist in the show and shared, “My would-be mother-in-law burns down my house. This leads to another clash, and she issues an open challenge, but Neel will fight back.”
“There’s going to be a lot of drama, including intense confrontations and emotional highs. Despite their hatred, a marriage will take place between Neel and Riddhi, and the audience will witness a rollercoaster of emotions—love, hatred, and tension,” he added.
In 2025, Abhishek is looking forward to growing on both personal and professional fronts. He said, “It’s the beginning of the year, and everyone wishes good things for themselves and their loved ones. I am working on a very nice show, and everyone is putting their heart and soul into it. I think it’s going to be a progressive year for sure.”
“This year is particularly lucky for people associated with the number 5, and since I’m connected to that, I feel it’s a special year. Also, it’s the year of Hanuman Ji, which makes it even more significant for me,” he added.
With daily soaps being shot almost every day, actors sometimes don’t get time for their personal selves, but Abhishek mentioned that his time in the industry has taught him to balance it out.
He said, “Daily soaps are indeed hectic, and we barely get time for ourselves. Having been in the industry for 15 years now, I have learned how to balance things out. My physical activities, like gymming, often take a hit due to long shifts like 8 AM to 8 PM. This year, I plan to fix that by joining a good gym and focus on my personal health.”
He also believes that lack of personal time can sometimes affect your professional life but stressed that as mature individual, one learns to balance it out. “It’s important to allocate time wisely—to rest enough to stay fresh and productive. Everyone has to make adjustments, and it’s all about clear priorities and time management,” he added.
He called himself a director’s actor and shared that he follows the guidance given to him. “Of course, I share my suggestions, and if they are feasible, we incorporate them. This year is going to be a rollercoaster, and I’m looking forward to some good work. The show will evolve, and I’m confident that the audience will love it even more as the journey progresses,” Abhishek ended.
