I am no more the chocolatey boy of television: Manish Tulsiyani on his comeback with Udaariyaan

Manish Tulsiyani who is playing the negative Yash Bajwa in Udaariyaan talks about his comeback to TV.

Actor Manish Tulsiyani who played the lead of Sony TV’s Chhajje Chhajje Ka Pyaar and was adored for his boy-next-door and chocolate-boy looks is back on television after a five years break. The actor has succeeded in breaking the shackles of being called ‘the chocolate boy’ with his negative image in his comeback show on Colors, Udaariyaan.

Manish is back to entertain us in a rather rough and tough avatar of Yash Bajwa in Udaariyaan. Yash is the character who is finally giving it back in the right way to Jasmine (Isha Malviya).

Says Manish on his comeback, “It feels amazing to get back to acting after a long gap. I have been getting offers for a while but wanted to take up some work on the medium of web. However, this role in Udaariyaan made me excited. This is a very well-written anti-hero role and I could not refuse it. I am happy to be part of Udaariyaan.”

Ask Manish as to what kept him away for so many years from TV, and he states, “I was busy with my family business. I was a lot into modelling too. I have been travelling the world. Udaariyaan is a big show, and I am happy to make my comeback with this one.”

Manish is excited as he has finally succeeded in breaking the chocolate boy image that he held earlier. “I am no more the chocolatey boy of television and this pleases me the most (laughs). As for Yash’s character, you cannot term him as a negative character. He is positive and cares about his family. However, he is negative towards this one girl Jasmine who has ruined their family. His actions are totally justified. I am happy to be getting a positive response from the audience.”

Ask him about the kind of roles he will want to play now, and Manish is quick to say, “I am looking for offers on the web. Of course, I want to play the lead role.”

Manish is all praises for Isha Malviya. “She is a gem to work with. I share a very good bond with her. I am grateful to her, as I was able to put in my best as she as a co-actor, made me all the more comfortable. Above all, Isha is a fabulous actor.”

On the changes he observes in the working pattern in TV now when compared to the past, Manish explains, “Work happens at a very fast pace right now. A few years back, we used to take more time between shots in TV shows. Now the level of work has been fastened. Also, television has gotten technically very strong which helps in working out things faster.”

Ask Manish if his tenure in Udaariyaan will end with the leap happening, and he states, “I am not aware of anything right now. I am glad that this opportunity and the powerful cameo came my way. There is a lot to explore in Yash if the makers want to. Otherwise, I am open to new assignments.”

Best of luck, Manish!!
