Sony Entertainment Television recently launched Yashomati Maiyaa Ke Nandlala which highlights the various sides of Yashoda as a mother. In the show, talented actress Neha Sargam, who has worked in shows like Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Mahabharat, Ramayan: Sabke Jeevan Ka Aadhar, and Doli Armano Ki, is seen essaying the lead role of Yashoda.
Commenting on the character, she said, “I feel extremely blessed to play Yashoda. The character has a lot of layers for me as an actor to portray on screen. I am not a mother in real life. Hence, I am seeking inspiration from real-life mothers I have seen in my life. The way my nani, dadi, and mother used to be with me. I have taken those references and am trying to incorporate them into my role.”
Elaborating more about the show, Neha mentioned, “I have also watched a lot of shows on Krishna’s bal leela. We have all grown up watching and hearing stories of Kanha. But I have not seen a show on Yashoda and Nandlala yet. So far we have seen Krishna’s chemistry with everyone. However, this is the first time that a story is depicted from a mother and son’s perspective. It beautifully presents a refreshing narrative highlighting the mother-son bond. The relationship between Yashoda and Krishna is enhanced in the show. We have shot the show in a very simplistic manner.”
When asked about the preparation for the role, she shared, “As part of the preparation, we worked upon the language. To get into the skin of this character, I have to speak the Braj language smoothly and that was not easy. Getting the emotions right with the language was a difficult task. I had to work on this and took time as well. Now, day by day I am getting better at it.”
The show kickstarted with an auspicious launch in Mathura where Lord Krishna is believed to have spent his childhood. Neha visited some revered temples in the city to seek blessings too. Talking about her experiences, she added, “I always wanted to visit Vrindavan and Mathura. I used to find the places very fascinating. Finally, because of this show, I got an opportunity to visit the pious lands of Vrindavan and Mathura and I feel extremely grateful. We launched the show in a grand way and I am glad I got to be a part of it.”
