Amazingly talented Karan V Grover, who entertained masses Angad in Colors show Udaariyaan, is all set to entertain audiences in Star Bharat’s new show Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai produced by Sandip Sikcand. The actor will play the role of superstar Ritesh Malhotra in the show opposite Sayli Salunkhe.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Karan revealed more about his role in the new show Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai, the concept, and his wish to work on the OTT platform.
What prompted you to take up the show?
I have always mentioned that I am always convinced by makers who want to tell fresh and unusual stories with all conviction. Be it a cameo or a full-fledged role, I have always followed that approach. I did a show with Like OK, wherein I married a robot. Then I did another show with Star Plus, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. Of course, I have a good relationship with the network (Star). They are very kind to me. I feel glad to be working with them. Also, Sandip Sikcand is such a powerful storyteller. Any actor would love to be part of his shows. I feel fortunate that he chose me. I believe that the content makes the artist shine.
The show’s first promo reminds us of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’s plot, so how different is it? What do you think is the USP of the show?
In any equation in life, when there is no mother, the child has different approaches. And when there is no father, the child has different approaches. 99 percent of people don’t ask you ‘what is your mother’s name?’ However, 100 percent of people will ask you about your father’s name. We still have the habit of writing our father’s name in the middle of our name. Plus, our story gets more interesting when the real father of the girl comes into the picture. Maybe, after seeing the first promo, you might relate it to another show. Or you would feel that this type of show is already presented to audiences. However, when you see the second promo, you will understand more about the show and plot.
Do you find any similarities between you and your character?
I play the role of superstar Ritesh Malhotra. However, I am not a movie star in real life. I get to borrow a lot from famous movie stars from all over the world and add to the character. People are interested to know about a movie star and their personal life. I get that aspect to portray on screen. That makes the show more interesting.
Do you like essaying negative or positive roles?
I prefer all shades of acting. I believe a character’s action can be bad but his/her intention cannot be bad. When people are damaged, disturbed, and hurt in love, they tend to do stupid things. Even good people do stupid things. But the portrayal of television is that people who do stupid things are bad people.
Any dream role you want to essay on the OTT platform?
I always want to play a superhero on OTT. It can be Superman or Batman. I don’t mind playing an Indian superhero.
Finally, your message to your fans…
I would like to say keep showering your love and support as you always do. We are coming up with an amazing show Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai. Isse bhi ‘bohot pyaar’ dijeeyega.
