I feel our TV audience wants to see more stories around the middle-aged issues: Reena Kapoor

Reena Kapoor who will play the lead in Star Bharat's new show Aashao Ka Savera.. Dheere Dheere Se, gets into an exclusive conversation.

Versatile actress Reena Kapoor who has played many inspirational characters on television is back with yet another one. This time, she plays a widow, who is subjected to society’s trauma. The show on Star Bharat, Aashao Ka Savera… Dheere Dheere Se, is based on the concept of life offering a new chance for an individual to move on and live life all over again. She is paired with Rahil Azam in the show. The show’s promo have been promising to the core.

Reena has some stunningly challenging characters to her credit like the ones in Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, RadhaKrishn, Ranju Ki Betiyaan, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Badii Devrani etc.

You are back with yet another challenging lead role. What attracted you towards this role in Dheere Dheere Se?

The show has brought to light the plight of women in our society who have lost not only their life partners but also their identity after the demise of their husbands and how society treats them. This concept which is so real and relatable to every woman is what attracted me to the show.

You have had an impactful career with many unique characters. Which ones have been very close to your heart?

Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki and now Aashao Ka Savera…. Dheere Dheere Se has been close to my heart so far.

Is there a role that has eluded you till now?

I would love to play a character like Shivgami in Bahubali.

What is the USP of Dheere Dheere Se?

Aashao Ka Savera…. Dheere Dheere Se is being shot like ott. The takings, lighting, getup, performances everything is being shot very realistically. We all are tired of seeing brightly lit-up studios, hero heroine, and other characters loaded with makeup, and over-the-top performances. I feel this show will give a breather to the audience from all that.

In a time when many plots are being made for the youth and younger generation actors, we have shows that showcase the middle age leads too. Your new show is one such. What is your take on keeping a balance with respect to shows that suit all ages?

We have shows that cater to younger audiences and we have shows that cater to middle-aged groups as well. Since a lot of the younger generation has shifted to OTT, I feel our TV audience wants to see more middle-aged issues. So I think the balance is automatically maintained.

What is your personal take on a woman getting a second chance in life?

Everyone, man or woman deserves another chance in life.

Tell us about your character in Dheere Dheere Se?

Real strength is not in fighting, real strength is in patience and endurance. This show shows the vulnerability, pain, and helplessness of a widow in our society and how my character Bhavna bears all the unjust not because she is weak but because she is helpless.

Best of luck, Reena!!
