Randeep Rai the popular chocolate boy of Indian Television made his name and bagged all limelight with his portrayal of Sameer in Sony TV’s popular show Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai.
The Shashi Sumeet Productions show has been a one-of-a-kind show that captured the lifestyle and story of the 90’s era.
The news of Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai going off air (a report that IWMBuzz.com was the first to put) has indeed saddened the big fan base of the show.
Yesterday we at IWMBuzz.com gave our readers an exclusive interview of lead girl Ashi Singh aka Naina. She got emotional while she talked about the closure of the show and felt bad about it. If you have missed reading it, you can read it IWMBuzz
Now, we have the adorable Randeep Rai with us, as he shares his emotions with IWMBuzz.com.
Says Randeep Rai, “There are mixed emotions about what is happening. First of all, I was shocked to hear this. I was not sure of the news, and when I heard it, I could not believe it. Everything was going so well for the show. I have never counted the TRPs. The TRP has gone up and come down over the last few months. Apart from TRP, everything was so smooth. And when I heard of it, I felt that everything good has to come to an end.”
“The happiness is that we have been part of a show that will be remembered for a long time. Our audience has been from a kid of four years old to a person of 40 years. So people will never forget what they saw in the show. So I can go out with this achievement that we have been part of a show that created a benchmark. We will all have this memory in mind. Having said this, I feel sad that people will not be able to watch Sameer and Naina for long.”
On the reactions of fans who are putting forth their fight to save Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai with #SAVEYUDKBH, Randeep Rai states, “I have never heard of a show being kept alive after being given the ultimatum to close down. So I don’t know whether the audiences’ plea will be heard. There are lots of criteria for a show to survive. And let us accept it, we have had a good run.”
“Sameer has given me an identity as an actor. Sameer has given me abundance of love from fans. I could not have got this love if I had accepted any other show. The best part of our show was that we had viewers of all ages. I have personally met kids who have loved the show. Our viewers were really amazing,” he adds.
“We will end shoot very soon and we are shooting for the last phase of it now. I have been involved with the show for two and half years. And the association has been amazing. I have seen great days with the show,” Randeep states.
The character of Sameer has given Randeep a stepping stone to scale new heights as an actor. “A good role will always make an actor greedy for better roles. I will come back to entertain my fans in a good role. I want to take a break post the wrap up and go home and chill for sometime.”
The biggest learning that Randeep has had with this experience of Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai is to be as natural as possible as an actor. “I have never acted for the role of Sameer. Everything came out so natural. It looked nice onscreen.”
Last but not the least, Randeep wants to tell his fans to cheer up and look ahead. “I understand their sorrow. As actors, we have nothing much in our hands. And I will try my best to keep entertaining them always.”
Best of luck, Randeep Rai!! Sameer and Naina aka Samiana will be missed for sure…
