Rachana Mistry the talented young actress is happy to be called a ‘Colors Baby’ as she is now part of her fourth consecutive show with the channel. Playing the role of Hansika on Thapki Pyar Ki 2, Rachana is having a whale of a time getting into the skin of the character.

Says Rachana, “In the initial days, when I was offered the role of Hansika, every time Hansika was addressed to as Hard Kaur. I remember when I was given the brief of this character, she was addressed as Hard Kaur. Hansika is very brave, she knows what she wants, she is crazily in love with her passion of singing. She is fearless when it comes to getting what she wants. There were sequences in the early days of Thapki Pyar Ki 2, where she was very clear towards Purab on what she wants. I really love Hansika’s strong-headedness. So this recollection that I have of this character being similar to Hard Kaur was exciting for me. Now, Hansika is an open book to all. However, there are many more shades of Hansika which you will get to see with time.”

Ask her how it feels to be part of a cult show like Thapki Pyar Ki 2, and Rachana expresses her thoughts, “It feels great to be a part of a show which has been loved by audience. We have a well-made fan base. We got a warm welcome from one and all. Along with this, there is pressure to perform well and give them the same feeling and interest that Thapki Pyar Ki 1 gave them. It has been fun. The kind of love that fans are giving us is motivating us.”

Rachana and Jigyasa Singh share a great bond which began on the set of Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki where Rachana played the role of Simran. “Talking about shooting with Jigyasa again is a ‘Yay’ wala feeling. She is very warm and pleasant. She has been like this from day one when I met her on the set of Shakti. With her, it is like having a home. She is that close and friendly. Every time i get stuck anywhere, she helps me out. We both share a very special bond.”

Remind Rachana that she is having a ball being a permanent part of the Colors family and she shares her happiness on the same. “My journey as an actor started with a Marathi show. But with Colors and in Hindi, I started with Salim Anarkali. I have done all my shows on Colors till now. It gives me loads and loads of happiness, I feel so proud to say that I am part of the Colors family. Shows like Salim Anarkali, Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Barrister Babu and Thapki Pyar Ki 2 give me a blessed feeling. In simple words, I have become a kind of a Colors baby.”

Ask her how Hansika is different from the other characters she has played and Rachana tells us, “I will respect the fact that the characters played by me have been written by different people, but have always been a part of me. They’re different in their own ways. Starting from Salim Anarkali to Shakti to Barrister Babu and now Thapki Pyar Ki 2, they have been different with respect to the era. One similarity that I have always seen is that every character I played knew what she wanted and loved to go to any extent to get it. Husna, Simran, Manorama and Hansika were beautiful in their own way. I genuinely fail to differentiate between them as all are part of me.”

Ask Rachana on the kind of roles that attract her and she states, “I like when women play strong characters. I like it when women play the decision-makers of their own lives. For example, my character of Manorama in Barrister Babu. She was a fearless woman who took charge of her life. Nobody needed to tell her what she had to do. The same goes with Hansika. She is ready to take charge and does not need anyone to help her out. I like such roles. I like it when people write such strong women characters. I am not the one who will be crying over things in my life, I will rather take charge of it. In simple words, I like the independent woman roles.”

Rachana will want to live her dream to the fullest by trying out every genre and medium of work. “I am open to reality shows as well as the web. I am giving myself the wings it needs to do anything and everything that interests me. I am living the dream that I have dreamt of. I am open to movies too.”

Best of luck, Rachana!!
