How does it feel to play the young blood, a character like Jagriti who is bold enough to treat her path?
I feel lucky and blessed about it. Getting a chance to play such a strong character is a great feeling. Jagriti’s character has so many colours to it, she has such a beautiful back story. She has a good personality, and her traits are amazing. She believes in good things and has a way of tackling situations. So it is fun to play Jagriti.
I love playing today’s girls, where girls are shown as street-smart, and very real. I get attracted to such women.
How different will Jagriti be from Arya in Dabangii or Manorama in Barrister Babu?
If you superficially look at it, they all are fighting for a bigger cause and look similar. I would say that the thing common between them is the fight for a greater cause. But they are beautifully distinguished in the situations they are put into. Manorama had an aura to fight in that era. When it comes to Arya, she was put in a very tough phase and went through so much with her hands being tied. For Jagriti, her hands are pretty free as she grows up. She does not have her memory. She is surrounded by so many good people. So her fight, whenever she regains memory, I assume, will be backed by the good people in her life. I don’t know, I am just assuming it.
What prompted you to take this role?
I love playing today’s girls, where girls are shown as street-smart, and very real. I love it when people write characters for strong women. I get attracted to such women. Why not? I am happy to have got this chance.
Collaboration with Zee TV and the renowned Mr Guruodev Bhalla. Tell us about it.
I so wanted to work with Zee TV and am happy that the association happened. As for Guru Sir, he is such an amazing person, he is so much involved in the project. He takes note of all the small details of the show. It makes the show more personal and beautiful for viewers to watch.
I want this character to be a big hit. This character of Jagriti has the potential to grow big in the audiences’ minds.
Tell us about the traits in Jagriti that you like.
Her muscle memory is appealing – she still sleeps on the floor and cannot sleep on her beautiful bed. She finds happiness in eating with her hands, even when she is surrounded by luxury. I think people can connect a lot with these traits. Even when you have a lot in life, a few traits give you the utmost comfort. Her habit of believing in the good of people is beautiful and appealing.
You are entering a new personal high too with your wedding being fixed. Take us through that. Any date for the wedding fixed?
We have not fixed the wedding date yet. I am happy to be blessed with a great human being in my life. He brings the best out of me. I am excited.
How do you look forward to this new phase personally?
It is a box of mixed emotions. Every bride-to-be will say the same thing. I am happy as something new is going to happen in my life. At the same time, there is a fear about the new phase in life. Life will not be the same, will miss my family, parents, siblings etc. I am chilled out as my wedding date is not fixed yet. I am sure, once the date is fixed, it will hit me harder.
What are your expectations from this role?
I want this character to be a big hit. Even if I can help one person to come out and speak for himself/ herself, I will feel great. This character has the potential to grow big in the audiences’ minds. I am happy that such characters are being written.
Jagriti has been a torchbearer for the Chithas. How will the story be in the near future?
As of now, you know for a fact that Jagriti does not have her memory. She will remember her past one fine day. Sooner or later, she will reconnect with her past. She otherwise continues to fight for a cause. It will be interesting once she gets her memory back and goes back to fighting for the Chitha community.
