I love the go-getter attitude of Naaz in Udaariyaan: Sonakshi Batra

Sonakshi Batra gets into an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com.

Sonakshi Batra is set out on a path that is surely going to pay her dividends as an actor. She has grown in persona and capabilities from the time we saw her in Nima Denzongpa. Now, she is seen playing the vengeful and scheming Naaz in Colors’ popular show Udaariyaan. Sonakshi has won the hearts of audiences, already in this menacing avatar.

The generation leap has brought the needed freshness to the show. The terrific trio of Nehmat (Twinkle Arora), Naaz (Sonakshi Batra) and Ekam (Hitesh Bharadwaj) are doing a great job. We have Sonakshi in an exclusive conversation where she talks about her role in Udaariyaan, her dream role and much more.

Check here.

You had a very simple and positive role in Nima Denzongpa. What prompted you to try an out-and-out negative role in Udaariyaan?

The other role definitely resonated more with who I am in real life but it is important to take up acting roles that are challenging for an actor. Different roles have always helped me realise my acting potential and strengths and helped me bring something new to the table for the audience as well.

How is it playing Naaz? What is the attribute that you like in her the most? What are your takeaways from the role of Naaz?

Playing Naaz has been a lot of fun. I love her go-getter and never-say-die attitude. She tries to find a way out of problems, which is a fantastic ability to have.

History has repeated in the show. Naaz is just like her mother Jasmine in her nature. Have you seen Isha Malviya in action? Or have you met her?

I met Isha at a party and we had a great time together. I am really looking forward to seeing her in action again and hopefully, we’ll have a few scenes together.

How has the response been after the generation leap?

It has been good and I feel a deep sense of gratitude towards the love I have been receiving from the audience.

What are your goals as a performer?

To be authentic and to do every role with conviction.

Is there any dream role in mind?

I really liked Kangana Ranaut’s character in Queen as well as Priyanka Chopra’s character in Bajirao Mastani. I would love doing such roles.

Will you be game for a reality show? If so, what kind?

Definitely. Reality shows prepare you for the unknown. You have to face the challenges head-on and get out of your comfort zone. I would be game for any kind of reality show- be it Biggboss, dance shows, Khatron Ke Khiladi. We have all grown old watching these shows and I would love to be a part of them.

What will be your message to fans?

I am really grateful for all the love that has been bestowed upon me by them. Their appreciation and support mean a lot and motivate me to achieve much more. I will keep working hard and try fulfilling all their expectations towards me.
