Throughout our lives, we meet and interact with a lot of people. Some meetings are planned, while some strange incidents do turn out to be moments that we cherish throughout our lives. In today’s times, relationships have been redefined; today, we not only share a relationship with our family but come across some special people with who we share an equally special bond with.
Sony SAB’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main beautifully showcases one such extraordinary relationship that Daljeet Bagga (Sayantani Ghosh) and her stepdaughter Trishala (Neeharika Roy). Yes, stepmothers are not always evil, this relation can be a beautiful one too. Here’s Sayantani Ghosh talking about how beautifully her character Daljeet Bagga is written and why what makes Tera Yaar Hoon Main a delight to watch.
Sayantani Ghosh, sharing her experience of playing a stepmother on Indian Television said, “This is the second time I have got an opportunity to play a stepmother and I am lucky enough to have broken the stereotypes and change the mindset of people, who think that the stepmoms are grey-shaded characters. The bond my character Daljeet has formed with Trishala while still trying to befriend Rishabh is very special and unbreakable. The show Tera Yaar Hoon Main showcases few connections in our life that are made from our heart and soul. I have always felt excited to be a part of this changing culture of redefining a cliched or a typical mindset where a stepmom is seen in a negative light.”
Talking about the importance of love and a great bonding in a relationship, she said, “In the past years, the difficult times have taught us that life is very uncertain and short to waste. I believe that the important part is the love, support, and togetherness of your family, which can help you sail through these testing times. I feel if someone has a second marriage and has stepchildren, one should always be open to the idea of forming a great bond, which is very strong and unbreakable. One can be a mother or a friend, but the stereotype of picturing a stepmother’s character needs to change, and we should emphasize on the love and the bond that those two people share.”
She further added, “I do agree that there’s a typical mindset and a cliche that stepmoms are the cruel ones. I have done two shows playing a stepmother and as Daljeet in Tera Yaar Hoon Main, I feel that the bonds you form from the heart and the soul are what matters, and such is a bond that Daljeet and Trishala share in the show. It is truly said that a mother doesn’t see any difference between her children and others. She just knows to love everyone equally and with a warm heart. So, I think every stepparent and stepchild should be given a chance to nurture their relationship and they should start afresh and become friends first, the rest can all fall into place later.”
Concluding her words, she said, “I really want everyone to keep watching Tera Yaar Hoon Main and keep loving us and supporting Daljeet. Through this show, we are catering to and highlighting many socially relevant topics. In today’s time, there are so many people getting re-married and giving themselves a second chance. I believe we have all evolved over the years scientifically, technologically along with our human mindset. The audience has appreciated the way Daljeet has become a stepmother to Trishala and Rishabh, I am glad to have got this opportunity to play such a path-breaking character.”
