Vikram Singh Chauhan’s new Star Plus fantasy love story, popular in the media as Raaz Mahal, will start airing from the first week of October.
“This is what I have been told. We just started shooting,” says this Dehradun lad, who first gained fame as Virat in Million Dollar Girl, back in 2013.
“As for the title, it was never officially christened as Raaz Mahal. But this is not the name. In fact, they are still deciding on the name right now.”
Vikram says, “This Gul Khan production is not a supernatural or ghost story. Rather, it is a fantasy love saga which is for the first time being shown on Indian TV. It is a love story of two people with a bit of fantasy element to it. You can say it is a romantic fantasy show.”
Ask him on what prompted him to take up this show and he says, “I wanted to work with 4 Lions since November last. I was initially skeptical as I did not want to do another supernatural show after Ek Deewaana Tha. However, when I saw the theme of this show, I was sold for it. I got goosebumps listening to the theme and music; I realized that this was an out and out love story. So I am now excited that I am part of it.”
When pointed out that none of his previous lead shows had got huge ratings and this might change the ball game for him, he says, “I never look at ratings. For me, my character is very important. I regard Jaana Na Dil Se Door as a cult show. For me, the billing is not important. No wonder I played the negative in supernatural, Ek Deweeana Tha, as well.”
“I want to be part of all platforms. I just finished Mardaani 2 with Rani Mukherjee. I was seen in the ALTBalaji series Baarish with Sharman Joshi. Now I am doing a fantasy show for the biggest channel, Star Plus. So the idea is to be everywhere. I want to be known as an actor who is not running after leads but after good content.”
“TV helped me a lot in doing films and web. TV has given me a lot of experience and practice to say my dialogues at a very fast pace. I am technically sound as I have kept working for long now. All of this knowledge has come to me through TV. So I am thankful that I have done good roles on the small screen.”
In closing, Vikram says he is all ready to face social media trolling, which most leads of Gul Khan face. “There is not a show where I have not been trolled. I have been loved, trolled and criticized too. So I have seen all sides of the pyramid.”
“We have to take the flip side of fan love in our stride. Having said that, I smartly block those who just spread negativity, while when those fans who have been part of my journey say a few things in anger, I understand, for they care for me.”
Best of luck, Vikram!!
