How is it to collaborate with Rajan Shahi and Star Plus?
It is very good to associate with Rajan Shahi Sir and his team. They have a brilliant team and are warm to work with. It is good to be back on Star Plus with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Tell us how you feel about the character you play?
I am loving the character of Abhinav. He is a giver. There are very few people who can actually give. I love the scenes that are coming my way. It is fun to play them. In totality, I love Abhinav.
What are the kind of projects you look at now as a performer?
As an actor, I want to do different roles. Want to do something which people say I cannot attempt. I want to do the rugged look, a bad boy etc. Basically, I want to try everything and push myself as an actor.
You are at total ease in light-hearted roles. Why is that so?
I am at ease in light-hearted roles because of my face projection. But I can play the negative roles too with the same elan. I think I am good as an actor in negative too. Honestly, I want to be like a chameleon who can fit into any role. I want to make every character that I play believable.
You have had web experience too. How was it and do you look forward to more opportunities there?
Yes, web series is a different ball game altogether. I recently shot for AK- 47 which will release very soon. I play a Bihari in that. You will see a very different Jay in it. It is a ’90s look, and you will not believe that it is me in the role.
How has the response been to your Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai journey?
So far the response to my role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been amazing (Thu Thu Thu). I like doing it, so I guess people will like watching it. All is good.
