Colors TV recently launched a new show Harphoul Mohini that chronicles the lives of two contrasting personalities – Harphoul, who hails from Haryana, and Mohini who comes from Kerala. In the show, talented actress Supriya Shukla, who rose to fame with her role of Sarla in Kumkum Bhagya and Kundali Bhagya, is seen playing a strong role of Harphoul’s mother Maai. The actress got candid and said, “Audiences still remember me as Sarla Maa. I played the role of Sarla for 8 years. It is very dear to me. Having said that, now, I want my viewers to love my new role Maai. This is a new journey.”
Talking about the concept and sharing her own story about two states, she added, “I am a Kashmiri and my husband is from UP. We stayed in Delhi earlier and are now in Mumbai. However, all areas belong to India. Only the language is different. In our show, Mohini and Harphoul have cultural differences. However, humanity matters the most.”
When asked about her bond with co-actors, she mentioned, “My bond with Harphoul is stronger as we started shooting earlier. We have a lot of scenes together hence the bond has become good. Mohini has just entered our lives. I have a good bond with her as well but it will eventually evolve. Mohini considers me Maai and not saas. Even though Maai comes from a rural area, she is not a typical saas. That was the best part that attracted me to the character. She loves her bahus.”
Supriya, who has worked in movies, feels that TV show bonds are stronger than in movies. “In TV shows, we shoot every day hence the bond becomes stronger compared to movies. My bond with Sriti Jha, Anjum Fakih, Shraddha Arya, Mrunal Thakur, Anupriya, and Harshad Chopda is very strong. I have become a part of their lives and vice versa during the course of our shows, ended the actress.
