Versatile actor Ankit Siwach who has enthralled his audience base with engaging portrayals in shows Rishton Ka Chakravyuh, Manmohini, Beyhadh 2 is presently playing the lead character of Armaan Rastogi in Star Plus’ new offering Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar.
In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Ankit talks about his role and show.
Excerpts:
Back to Star Plus from where you started. How does it feel?
Coming back to Star Plus is obviously like coming back home. The channel gave me my first show Rishton Ka Chakravyuh. It gave me the platform and opportunity to prove myself and perform. It allowed me to stand with the finest of actors. The channel has again trusted me for this show. I will be ever grateful to Star Plus for showing trust and confidence in me.
Tell us about this character here?
Armaan is someone who has seen a lot in life. He has taken care of his family, has gone through unbearable losses. But he has always coped up in life. He looks for the positives in a person, rather than going by superficial beauty. He is genuine and emotional, he is real and strong.
How do you look at the taboos and sensitive subjects to be touched upon in the show?
The taboos and sensitive subjects touched upon in the story plot of Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar are present globally and are prominent in almost every third household. Racism, divorces and other discriminations that take place in our day to day life, are sensitive topics that have to be dealt with very delicately. Through the story in our show, we are trying to lift people who have been facing all this throughout their lives and are trying to give them hope through our storyline.
Looking back at your career, what have been your highs and the not so good phases?
I have never felt that I have had a very long career. I always feel that with every project, I need to give a rebirth to myself as an actor, which helps me to get that freshness onscreen. Whenever I am off-camera, I stay away from social media too, to rejuvenate myself. So highs and lows, I won’t count as every project is new learning. It is not in my hands if a show or project works. I have good days as well as bad ones. So I take it one day at a time. I push myself to work harder and learn more with every project and story that I am a part of.
What are your expectations from the show and role?
There are no expectations as such. But I would want to touch the hearts of the audiences. I want to be dedicated to Armaan and I want people to relate to the character. More than anything else, I will want the show to get the respect it deserves because of the treatment, writing an execution and most importantly, the topic that it touches. I expect love, respect from the audience. They will get good content in return.
How has life been post marriage?
Life has changed for the better post marriage. There is a sense of maturity and responsibility that naturally comes to everyone who gets married. There is more clarity in what I want and don’t. By God’s grace, things are good.
You have been sticking to TV and not looking at diversifying your plans to other platforms? Any reason for this.
I don’t think I have only stuck to the TV. Yes, the majority of work that I have done is on TV. There is so much learning and hard work that has been put in. There are a few things that I have done. The release dates will get announced soon. As of now, I am glad to be a part of the show which is very unique.
