I will love to play an army officer in the near future: Karan Vohra

Karan Vohra who plays the lead in Imlie, gets into a conversation.

Actor Karan Vohra is playing it up well in the role of Atharva Rana in Star Plus’ Imlie. Karan who got famous as Shaurya Khanna in Zindagi Ki Mehek, and as Dr Veer Sahay in Krishna Chali London, waited for a long time to get the right role that he had in mind.

Says Karan, “You can say that this role in Imlie is tailor-made for me.
I was not taking up daily soaps for a long time, as I was getting the same kind of roles. It gets monotonous playing the same kind. I wanted to experiment with newer roles. I was waiting for the right opportunity.”

Playing Atharva in Imlie has been like a breeze for Karan. “It feels great to play Atharva. Initially, when I gave the audition, he was to be a musician who played the guitar. However, the next day, I was told that he was to be a DJ. So in 24 hours, the characteristics of the role changed totally. Luckily, the best part is that my younger brother Kunal is a DJ. So that became easy for me. All through the lockdown, I have observed him, producing music on his console. So I had to pick up things from him, imbibe them. I received a fantabulous response as people felt I had the DJ vibes in my entry sequence.”

Karan is happy to be working with Megha yet again after Krishna Chali London. “It is great to be working with Megha for the second time. When I did my second mock with Megha, I got to know about her being in the show. It is indeed a cute coincidence. We know each other very well. It becomes easy for us to enact our scenes. She is a very good actress.”

Ask him about his take on second editions of popular shows not doing well in most cases, and Karan states, “My take on second editions is that there are exceptions to the newer editions doing well. We have Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai doing so well. It is a hit show even today and it is probably in its third story. The story should be very gripping. Having said this, nothing is in our hands, we have to give our best as performers.”

On the kind of role that excites him, Karan quips, “I have been very choosy regarding taking up roles. The role should excite me in the narration itself. If I see myself in that character at that phase, I go for it. Otherwise, I don’t take it up.”

In future, Karan will love to play newer roles. “Every role is special. But I will love to play an army officer, be on the small screen, OTT or film.”

He will like to explore the space of the web too. “Yes, I am trying for web projects. Let’s see what happens. Reality shows give very good money. It is a different kind of medium. I will love to be part of them too.”

Best of luck, Karan!!
