Delnaaz Irani is known for playing powerful characters and is now seen in the Colors show Mannat- Har Khushi Paane Ki on colors produced by Mukta Dhond’s Malhar Content Creators. This Women’s day, she shares her inspiration from the real-life strong women around her. Whether it is her colleagues, friends, or even the women who work for her, she admires their strength and resilience. But the one woman who has left the biggest impact on her life is her mother.
“There are a lot of people that inspire me. A lot of women could be somebody who is working for me, could be somebody who is my staff. They have their own stories, and yet they are very strong people. One person that I really admire and always look up to is my mother. She’s been a fighter, and the way she’s brought her children up, the way she’s struggled her way up in life, worked really hard—she was a professor in college, then coming home, cooking, cleaning, looking after her kids, bringing up the children, their studies and everything, and eventually turning out to be this very strong woman who was also looking after herself after she retired.”
Even at 82, Delnaaz’s mother continues to inspire her. “When I see my mom today at 82, very healthy and mentally, physically, and emotionally strong, I feel proud of the fact that I am her daughter. I wish that I can be exactly like her—the strong person that she is.”
Delnaaz also reflects on how her admiration for strong women is reflected in her roles on television, especially her latest character, Harneet, in Mannat. “There are so many people who are struggling, yet taking life with a smile, facing challenges and problems, and living life to the fullest. That’s what I see in Harneet too. She is a rock for Mannat, always standing by her side, strong and steady. There are so many qualities in her that I resonate with. She is a total support system, just like I try to be in my real life as well.”
Her personal experiences and inspirations help her bring authenticity to her roles, making her characters even more impactful.
