She is one of the famous villains of the television industry and has been lauded by fans & critics alike for her performances.
Currently, she has been portraying the character of Shraddha in Thapki Pyaar Ki and has even won a Colors’ Golden Petal Awards for the same.
“The recognition has not come overnight. It’s been a nine years journey and still count. People say that you need to have a girl next door look to play a protagonist and sharp complexion to play an antagonist. I clearly disagree though. Take a look at Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Munna Bhai and Badlapur. I think a true actor can perform any kind of role, doesn’t matter if protagonist or antagonist.”
Audience generally stereotypes the role of an actor, on which she comments: “When people meet me they change their opinion. I am fine with people hating me. If people love hating me then I am fine with it.”
Strong demeanour, indeed.
So will she experiment in the digital content space as well? “By all means. These web series have showed us what true acting really is. There is more scope of creativity for an actor. I won’t be comfortable doing the intimate scenes but I do like the idea of web series in general.”
She has a huge passion for dancing and very few are aware that she wanted to become a choreographer before turning into an actor. Being a dancer herself she is a huge Madhuri Dixit fan. “I would love to reprise Madhuri Dixit’s character in Devdas as well as Priyanka Chopra’s in Barfi,” she ends.
We wish Monica all the best for her future endeavours.
