Ace actor Tushar Dalvi, who recently stepped into Abeer’s shoes to play the titular role of Sai Baba in Mere Sai: Shraddha Aur Saburi on Sony TV, is himself a firm believer and follower of Sai.
Talking about the same, he says, “I am very happy and glad to be able to play the role of Sai. I am blessed to have got the part. I have not in my wildest dream ever imagined myself playing Sai Baba. I want to thank the production house and team Sony. Though I knew of the show and also saw the episodes, never imagined I will be offered this show and the titular role Sai. I think Sai Baba wanted me to play the role. I am a believer and follower of Sai. I have been to Shirdi many times. Not only me, but my maternal family is also a firm believer of Baba. I am trying my best to give my 100% to the character, and with Sai’s blessing, I hope I am able to do that. I think whatever he preached, he himself practiced. His teachings are more important. For instance, he said, “Sabka Malik Ek”. This will hold till eternity. In three simple words, he told us the universal through.”
Abeer Soofi did a fab job as Sai. Ask if he is nervous to match up to the level, he adds, “There is no doubt about Abeer’s performance, he did a wonderful job. He was outstanding. But at the same time, I think every actor has his own style to portray a certain character on screen. He did his part. Now, I will play a role in my style. I think the individuality of an actor does matter. We have often seen when an actor is known for playing a certain character from the start, he leaves his impression on everyone’s heart. But that doesn’t mean that is the ultimate impression. I believe any actor can play the same part in a different way with his individuality and still do justice to the character. With my efforts and understanding, I will be able to portray the character in my own style. There is not an inch of nervousness.”
Commenting on the challenges while getting into the skin of the character, he shares, “I started my preparation as an actor for the role by reading and concentrating more on Shri Sai Charitra and watching the initial episodes of Mere Sai, so that when I start my journey with the show there is no jerk. I am doing my best for the role and I hope audiences support me in this journey.”
