Instead of a docile woman, I want to portray a fierce character on-screen: Pranali Ghogare

Young actress Pranali Ghogare, who rose to fame with Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali on Life OK, is leaving her dream of playing the powerful character Durdhara in Sony TV’s Chandragupta Maurya produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Productions.

She says, “I did a movie Manchukurisevelalo; so wasn’t keen on taking up a daily soap. However, when I was approached for the role of Durdhara, I found it very challenging. I also wanted to work with Swastik Production for a long time. In the past, I had hit and miss cases with the production house a lot of times. Hence, this was the best opportunity to grab it as I was not occupied; so I agreed to do the show. Durdhara is a spoilt brat and she is highly pampered. She is like an old era’s Poo. It is also fun to work with the powerhouse of talent and energy Kartikey. He is 10 years younger than me and he calls me ‘didi’ and I call him ‘chotu’ but we romance on-screen. It is quite funny.”

Talking about pros and cons of doing a mytho and historical show, she shares, “The only con for all the actors of doing a mytho and historical show is that we have to be in Umergaon (laughs). Now, I am a residential of Gujarat. The tiring part is that we have to shoot away from family. The heavy jewellery is also tiresome. The first day you feel amazing but wearing them every day is troublesome. The pro is that you get to live in that era. I was told by my creative that I should forget myself and be Durdhara. I have been told to be arrogant for the character. I prepared myself accordingly for the role.”

When asked what type of characters she wishes to portray on-screen, she avers, “When I see Kartikey doing stunts, I feel like doing such characters. I also told the creatives to let me enact such stunts. Instead of a normal docile woman, who always thinks about her husband and kid, I want to play a powerful character like Manikarnika on-screen. I want to do sword fighting and perform stunts as they are fascinating. These things help in the evolution of an actress graph.”

Well said, Pranali
