Dapper looking Dheeraj Dhooper is on cloud nine and rightfully so, for his Zee TV show Kundali Bhagya continues to rock the ratings chart since it started beaming seven months back.
“I guess what works is the relatable story and characters. I am really enjoying playing the Casanova cricketer Karan Luthra.”
Coming to his co- star Shraddha Arya he says, “Working with great actors makes shooting a breeze. She is also a sweet person in real life. We hit it off like a fish takes to water. ”
Here, Dheeraj does not feel that Kundali Bhagya being a spin off for Kumkum Bhagya is a major cause of its success. “Apart from a few common characters, our story is completely different. Agree the Kumkum Bhagya connect might have initially helped to create a buzz, but interesting characters and storylines have ensured that we have stayed right on top, which is no mean task .”
Before Kundali, he was a part of the hit show Sasural Simar Ka for five long years.
“I am fortunate that social media fans who would call me Prem are warming up to my new character. He being a family guy is poles apart from Karan.”
It has to be acknowledged that Dheeraj is among the few lucky actors who has managed to work with all major channels (Star Plus- Behenein, Colors -Mata Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg & Sasural Simar Ka and Sony-Kuch Toh Log Kahenge) and production houses (Rajan Shahi, Rashmi Sharma and JD Majethia.
“I am thankful to them for recognizing my talent and giving me an opportunity to showcase my wares.”
Looking ahead, Dheeraj is open to working in web series and films as well. “An artist is always hungry for challenging stuff, the medium is irrelevant. I have already done a short film Yellow a couple of years ago and it was fun. “
This actor fashion designer has created his own Kundali look. “People love my color combination, choice of fabrics and accessories etc. Today it is very important to look good and I hope I inspire youngsters to take some time out for self grooming. You don’t need to consult a stylist, as you know yourself the best. Just dress according to your personality and comfort level. Most important is that you always wear your attitude, which has to be just right, even going slightly overboard spoils the game.”
Sounds mature, Dheeraj.
