Rohit Purohit, the young and talented actor, who is known for his exceptional acting skills in projects like Porus, Razia Sultan, and Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji, returned to screen with Sony Entertainment Television’s new show, ‘Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii’. Rohit plays the role of Dr. Vikrant Saxena in the daily. In a candid conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Rohit spoke about his character in length, the challenges of playing a doctor on-screen, and more.
How does it feel to be a part of a show like Dhadkan?
It feels amazing to be a part of a show like Dhadkan because I can relate to this show and the character. Previously I have only done historic or family dramas. This is different and very realistic. And of course, the script, the show’s story is so interesting, the concept is very fresh and new to TV. There is no drama, the reaction to situations is ditto to how we react in our actual lives. So, Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii is very authentic.
Playing a doctor comes with its own set of challenges. Tell us something about the preparation and the character?
Just playing a doctor was challenging because medical terms were very difficult. I saw a few references and adapted to this new role. Vikrant is a complicated character. Nobody knows about this character so episode by episode, scene by scene, people will discover Vikrant more. I give a hundred percent in my work, my experiences and observations about society also seep into my work. So, I am hopeful that people like the character because it is realistic. With this show, you will experience something new with every episode as it is a bold show. I am just hopeful that audiences love and accept me in my new role.
How do you think the show will help to bring a change in society?
Oh yes, after watching Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii people’s perception has changed. A lot of girls have revealed that the scenario at their houses has changed after watching the show. Even men who were dominating their partners have realized their mistakes. One of my friends was also doing the same thing, but he told me that he is a changed person now. It feels good that people are seeking inspiration and the show is bringing a positive change in society.
How is your working experience with the cast?
My rapport with the entire cast is amazing. I am working with a very talented bunch. Some new, some experienced, but together we are a great team.
