Young actress Shivya Pathania, who is known for her exceptional acting talent in projects like Humsafars, Ek Rishta Saajhedari Kaa, RadhaKrishn, Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush and Dil Dhoondta Hai, is back on-screen with yet another mytho character.

After RadhaKrishn and Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush, she will be now seen in &TV’s latest mythological show Baal Shiv that depicts the mythical katha of the mother and son, Mahasati Anusuya and Baal Shiv, and their eternal bond. In the show, Shivya plays the role of Goddess Parvati. In conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Shivya spoke about her character, fear of getting stereotyped and more.

How excited are you for your new show?

I am very excited about the show, this role came to me as a huge blessing. Honestly, I was a bit confused whether I should go for it or not, but when I heard the story from Anirudh Pathak, I felt extremely honoured to play Parvati role in the show and it is one of the best opportunities I have got, so couldn’t resist to bag it.

What made you take up the show and tell us something about your character?

When I first heard the story of this character, I wanted to keep knowing more and experience the life of Parvati. As I said before, these roles in my life have been a big blessing. Even as a child I wished to play these characters and always thought to myself how lucky those actors were who got the opportunity to play these roles. Devi Parvati is a pivotal part in the show as the audience will get to see how after getting married to Shiv, Devi Parvati will be settling in a new phase of life. Initially, she will be demanding and will have a certain apprehension, but eventually, she will understand the true nature of Kailash.

Shivya, you are doing mytho shows, do you fear getting stereotyped?

Since childhood, I would watch actresses play a divine character on the small screen and would always wonder what made the maker choose them for the part among the rest? As we grow, we tend to forget our childhood aspirations. It is a dream moment for me as I am Shiv Bhakt and getting to portray Parvati on the show. Besides, it’s not that I don’t get an offer from other genres. This industry is the place where we get to explore different characters and I don’t feel stereotyped. I am working on other projects simultaneously and people will get to see me in a different avatar

What was the challenging part while getting into the skin of the character?

It is indeed a challenging role, but I feel grateful to play it. I used to feel there is a common perception that an artist portraying mythological characters has to perform in some limitations but all we need to do is be real and don’t take any pressure.

Are you spiritual in real life?

Yes, I feel things happen for a reason, even for Parvati, there were a lot of people auditioning for three to four months. Post getting selected for the role, a lot of people came to me and told me that they tried for the role as well but couldn’t get through. This made me feel the role was meant for me and the divine blessings were working in my favour. I believe that God himself has chosen me for this character.

Why should the audience watch this show?

I am myself a huge Shiv Bhakt and even in my hometown we worship and believe in lord Shiv, and I am sure no one ever heard of the Baal Shiv story which makes this show very different from others. As a character we have always seen Shiv Parvati’s love story, but what excited me the most was to see what had happened due to which Shiv had to leave Kailash and go to earth and how everything shaped later. The story is so beautiful and keeps you wondering why Shiva had to come down to earth. I think this is one of the reasons that the concept is new and the story is nicely portrayed which will give the audience a very beautiful life journey of Baal Shiv.

Any final message?

I will give a message to my lovely audience that please keep your blessing and keep showing love to our show.
