It is sad that production houses take newcomers to save money: Additi Gupta

The actress chats with IndianWikiMedia…

The dazzling and vivacious Additi Gupta is quite happy with her negative role in popular Star Plus show Ishqbaaaz.

“It is a different kind of concept unlike the run of the mill saas bahu naagin dayan types, so it gives a relief to the actor in me as well.”

She continues, “Ragini is a khatarnak(dangerous) character  hellbent on getting  Shivay (Nakkul Mehta) who does not give her time at all.  Personally, I don’t identify with the character. Which girl will get so desperate to net a guy?  Having said that, it is fun to play her as there are no limitations.”

Additi is quite happy with continuing tryst  with the negative genre(Qubool Hai and Sanjog Se Bani Sangini, etc) and  is in no hurry to get  back playing  positive shade, “I get to do a lot much more than the good  bahu, I get to cry and become a bitch as well.  People hate me for the same, but this is my space.”

Can it be also that most leads today are young girls? “Well, this phenomena keeps coming back, for a while Bade Acche Laagte  Hai (Sony) changed the scenario when senior actors were given their due.  It is sad that production houses take rank newcomers to save money. What they don’t understand is that  they can save a lot of time getting experienced who knows the drill.  I myself began as a 19 year old fresher with Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil who was made to slog 24*7 with no break.  Now I am in a position where I demand what I merit, if you can afford me good, if not so be it.”

Additi also does not get the current social media craze. “People write stuff and adding others in the hope of garnering  followers. I am way to mature for this stupidity.”

In closing she would not mind returning to the digital space , she had recently  done a interesting  short film with Iqbal Khan titled  Sinha Vs Sinha, “ The format allows you space to do natural acting unlike TV.”

However she would not be ready to do bold scenes as most web products have for she is conservative.   “Also creatively   I feel that good edgy content does not need swears and nudity.”

“After having been around for some many years I also know that bold quotient narrated always ends up being double on screen.  And since I am not comfortable doing it I don’t want to waste their time saying yes I am interested and then making a scene on floor.”

We wish her all the best.
