Manav Gohil, the versatile and talented actor, who has done hit shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kkusum, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, and Buddy Project, is happily exploring his grey character Vaibhav Kapoor for the first time in Sony Entertainment Television’s show ‘Kaamnaa’ – jahan hoga khwaahishon aur usoolon ka aamna saamna.

The show also features Chandni Sharma and Abhishek Rawat in the lead roles and is based on the clashes between the values and aspirations of a middle-class couple – Akanksha and Manav. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Manav spoke about his character, challenges, and more.

How does it feel to be a part of a show like Kaamnaa?

It feels good to be part of any show that you have opted for. Understanding the scope of your work, the script, and the range that your character might be able to enjoy. It’s a treat working on Kaamna particularly because I haven’t played such a shade before. I look forward to the script and enjoy exploring Vaibhav’s role and this is exciting for me.

The show is said to be a remake of Judaai film, do you agree? Your comment on the same

Well, initially I was told by a few fans that it was a remake of some show as well. I hope you won’t hold a grudge against me if I were to tell you that I haven’t seen that particular show that people are talking about nor have I seen the movie Judaai. I am not perturbed about it if it were a remake because it is a story that is told by new characters and actors. It is basically a different way of telling a story. This is about Manav-Akanksha-Vaibhav and that is it.

What do you like the most about your character and the concept of the show?

There is a certain amount of spunk to my character Vaibhav that is what I like. His energy, style, everything is amazing. He is also manipulative but that makes him relatable to today’s time. What I like the most about the character is that there is a certain amount of childishness (childlike honesty) to him which springs up everyone. The show’s concept is good, it is dramatic and loaded.

What are your expectations from this role?

I have been doing TV for a while now so honestly, I don’t expect much. However, the only thing I expect from myself is to deliver and grow as an actor through the help of the character. Through Vaibhav, I am enjoying the process and hoping to be growing as an actor.

Any particular challenges you faced while getting into the skin of the character?

Well, morally I do face issues. Vaibhav does not deal with things that I as Manav Gohil do. Hence sometimes the director says that the scene was flat and we can add more to it. There is a certain amount of challenge. Personally, when I watch the show, my heart goes out to the character Manav. Not that impedes my performance or anything, just that I have to continuously put in the effort to wire my thought process into Vaibhav.

Finally, your message to your fans…

The story of Kaamna has hooked the audience right from the start since it’s so relatable, especially for the present generation. I am glad that the creators had the faith in me that I could pull something like this. Hope the audience continues to support and love me in this new avatar.
