Jaideep Singh, who is currently seen as Balbir Singh Bajwa in the Star Plus show Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures, is known to have mastered a few Indian languages and credited his mother for making him interested in this and other hobbies. Be it Punjabi, Bengali, or Rajasthani, he is fluent in most of them and said that it helps him play his characters with more perfection.
He said, “I grew up in a very cosmopolitan environment. A lot of credit also goes to my mom, who introduced me and my sister to the world with a unique perspective. My inclination to learn—whether it’s languages, singing, or other hobbies—started early on.”
“Knowing so many languages helps as an actor too. It’s very important to have a strong command of the language when playing a certain character, and I’m very particular about it. Whether it was Charan Singh in Faltu, where I spoke Rajasthani, or Bengali in Bari Bodol, or the UP dialect as Vanraj Jaiswal,” he added.
He has acted in many languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, English, and Rajasthani. He added, “Hindi and Punjabi are my favorite languages to perform in. Also, Hindi is the language in which I feel most expressive. I am waiting to do projects in Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil, and I really want to play a character where I speak Urdu.”
Jaideep feels that being multilingual gives him an edge in terms of versatility and connecting with a wider audience in the industry. He said, “When people from rural areas send you messages saying they feel a connection, you know you’ve done your job well.”
He has even dubbed for a few projects and done voiceovers too. “I’m open to more opportunities as time allows,” he ended.
