Fans of Saurish Athwal who plays the evil Kalasur in the popular STAR Plus show Qayamat Ki Raat are a worried lot with the show now taking a leap with the death of the above tantrik.

The story now proceeds with Madhurima Tuli taking the mantle of the main antagonist as the new chudail. She emerges from Kalasur’s ashes as per his prophecy of returning even from the dead.

Says Saurish, “I have just been told that there would be a break of couple months when the creative would establish new characters and families.”

“The leads (Karishma Tanna and Vivek Dahiya) have also been reincarnated. However I have not been told that Kalasur’s journey is over; he might come back. I guess this new twist falls as part of the new dayan chudail zone which is currently holding sway over desi audiences. There is constant firefight of which chudail is the best.”

Here Saurish makes a frank admission saying, “Everything depends on ratings; if the new track works, my return might be delayed indefinitely. But if the numbers don’t come, Kalasur will be back with vengeance pretty soon.”

“This is not the first time that Kalasur has been bumped off; even earlier he was killed but was back due to popular demand. The creative had invested lots of time and effort in the negative character of Nishika and Ajay which did not resonate with the audiences; so they had to be killed in just over a month.”

“It is tough to get rid of such a popular and pivotal character. You have not seen a more horrible looking demon ever before. I have got several messages of fans demanding Kalasur’s return, lest they will stop watching the show altogether.”

Adds Saurish, “All said and done I have really enjoyed my bit with this Balaji Telefilms unit. It was no mean task wearing that makeup and lenses for hours at end.”

Saurish had replaced Nirbhay Wadhwa within two months of launch on back of tantrums rumours.

“My co- stars wish that I come back, for you always develop a bond with an old team and you have to start from the scratch with the new actors. We have a great atmosphere on set; both our leads are very friendly and down to earth.”

Best of luck, Saurish!!
