Kanika Mann is my best friend: Nishant Malkani

Nishant Malkani admits that numbers of his Zee TV show Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega (Shoonya Square) is not very great as of now.

Says the actor, “We always had great TRP, but yes off late, it has slipped. But things are again on the upswing with new twists and turns. Most importantly, post leap, the focus is back on the romance between Akshat and Guddan (Kanika Mann).”

Here he further adds that “Soon a new third wheel will come along to raise tensions between the above couple post-Antara’s (Dalljiet Kaur) exit.

Guddan has been on air since 2018, “At a time when shows are shutting down in quick time, I attribute our staying power to good old luck and yes, hard work. We are all leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we stay around even in 2022.”

Nishant, who had taken a sabbatical from TV after Ram Milaye Jodi is hopeful that the success of Guddan will get him back in the reckoning. “I don’t know what monies and roles will be offered to me. However, the industry has changed over the past decade.”

“I am very lucky as a male artist to get something to do in a female-dominated TV space. Here both Kanika and I have a lot to do. I have essayed four different shades/looks, including double roles.”

“The current angry man avatar is the best to play. You don’t poke him for if you do, God save you.”

“I am now very comfortable playing Akshat and have subconsciously added a lot of my traits to the character. Those who know me will easily guess what I am talking about.”

Shifting gears to Kanika, he says, “She is my best friend. The on-screen chem of any couple does depend a lot on their rapport. We have a great natural tuning, call it destiny, or whatever you want. But this is very important as we need to work together for 12 hours every day.”

“And before you broach the subject, let me say it upfront that there is nothing cooking between us though. We are very career-oriented and don’t want any such silly talk to mar a lovely friendship,” ends he.

Way to go, Nishant!!
