Just as we celebrate the women in our lives by acknowledging International Women’s Day, today, 19 November is a day for the men, recognized as International Men’s Day. In an era where equality for both men and women is given priority, it is equally important to talk about the varied roles that men and women play in making the world around us a better place to live in. Srishti Jain, who essays the role of Monisha in Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya believes that it is important to recognize the importance of men, as we do for women.

She says, “On International Men’s Day, I think it’s important to reflect on the role men play in our lives and the world, not just in terms of their achievements, but in their humanity. I have first-hand seen how complex and layered a man’s experience can be.”

She adds on to say, “We often talk about the need for women to break through barriers, but men also face their own set of pressures and expectations. Today is a reminder to acknowledge and support men in embracing vulnerability, mental health, and self-care, just like we often do for women’s well-being. Men, like women, deserve to be seen for who they truly are, not just the roles society expects them to play. It’s a day to recognize that we all, regardless of gender, deserve respect, empathy, and the opportunity to live authentically.”
