Young actor Sheel Verma who was seen in Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey, has bagged his first lead role with Shemaroo Umang’s new show Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain. The show produced by Raghuvir Shekhawat’s Natkhat Productions has Sheel Verma and Diksha Dhami playing the leads.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com. Sheel talks about this big opportunity of playing the lead and more.
He says, “I believe that many people who appear very happy and cheerful in life often have a deep, rough, or even broken past. The character I play in the show, Jaiveer, is someone I connect with on a personal level. I am enjoying portraying him.”
Talking about his character, Sheel avers, “Jaiveer is a lively, cheerful person, but at the same time, his difficult past has made him short-tempered. So, while he spreads joy, he also has moments of anger and frustration. This contrast makes the character very real and relatable for me.”
Ask him about his first opportunity as the lead in a show, and he states, “Yes, this is my first time playing the lead role in a TV show. I have played lead roles in movies before, but this is my first experience as the lead in a television series, and I’m enjoying it.”
Talking about the differences he has observed in varied mediums of work, Sheel says, “The difference is that playing a lead in a movie feels more like a T20 or one-day match—it’s fast-paced and wrapped up in a shorter time. But leading a TV show is more like a test match. It requires long-term dedication, patience, and consistency. You come to the set every day, repeating certain scenes over and over, and that takes a lot of perseverance.”
“It is important to stay disciplined, be in character every single day, and continuously connect with and relate to the role. I am incredibly grateful to the producers, directors, and my co-actors for being so supportive. We have been shooting together for a while now, and it truly feels like a family. This opportunity means a lot to me, and I feel blessed to be playing the lead in this show.”
Best of luck!!
