I have learnt the important art of replenishing myself after a show: Tarun Mahilani

Tarun Mahilani who exhibited great talent as actor playing the lead role in &TV’s Half Marriage will soon be back on TV with Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms’ show Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

He will play the role of Komolika’s (Hina Khan) brother who will be completely opposite to her in attitude and thought process.

Tarun had been on a hiatus for few months after the wrap up of Half Marriage. He wanted to take a conscious break as he wanted to replenish himself after all the energy draining that happened in his earlier show.

Says Tarun, “When you play the male lead of a show, it takes a lot of energy out. The mental investment of about a year in that show and role was huge for me. So I needed a break which was a conscious decision taken by me. During that time, I wanted to figure out how it really works to jump from one show to another. Half Marriage was my first show as lead and was a great learning experience. Now, I am better equipped to move from one project to another.”

This does not mean that Tarun was not keeping himself busy. He was working on various commercial ads and also did a short film.

“Work has been happening. It’s that I was looking for the right opportunity to get back to TV. Kasautii Zindagi Kay has its own legacy and I am excited to be part of it,” he states.

On the learnings that he has gotten from his first lead role experience, Tarun avers, “I love to act and I want to act. So I put a lot of effort into my roles. I have this habit of getting very much involved in it. So with my energy getting drained, I did not know how to get back that energy. I have learnt this important art of replenishing myself after a show.”

Tarun has a very interesting thought process of looking at life and acting. “Acting is representation of life. Even story telling is a kind of representation of life. If you are constantly shooting and acting, there is no time to experience life. So if you do not experience life, how would you represent it and be true to the art that you have associated with? So for me, I believe in living life fully as well. So this is a major takeaway that happened after my first show.”

Tarun will start shoot for Kasautii Zindagii Kay very soon.

Here’s wishing Tarun all the very best!!
