Rashmi Gupta, the talented young actress is presently entertaining one and all in her offbeat role of Leela in Colors’ newly launched show Balika Vadhu 2 produced by Sphere Origins. Rashmi who was last seen playing the sophisticated and modern role of Saraswati in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega has given herself an amazing platform by trying out something really different.
Leela is a very sweet and innocent character, who gets tormented to physical abuse by her husband.
Says Rashmi, “Leela’s role is a dream role for me. I am very much happy to have got an opportunity to be part of Balika Vadhu 2. Who does not want to get associated with a show like its stature?”
Rashmi’s character has a lot of pent-up emotions even though she looks very lively in front of all. “All credit goes to my Director Sir. On the very first day of our workshop, he had intimated to me that I have to cry from my soul and that I had to live this character fully.”
Talking about her role, Rashmi says, “Leela is a very young, positive, sweet and lovable character who goes through physical abuse by her husband. In today’s world, I believe that there are so many women like Leela who face the same humiliation. I urge all the women of the society to take a stand and fight for it.”
On the kind of response got, Rashmi quips, “People love the character of Leela. Daily I get showered with thousands of messages wherein people say that they get emotional to watch the scenes of Leela and Kadvi Baa.”
On working with such a stellar cast, Rashmi states, “We are all like one big family now. We are living our reel life in real life too. When we get to meet each other off the screen or after pack up, we enjoy time together. We all address each other by the character names and not by real names.”
Ask her about the expectations from her role, and Rashmi is quick to say, “I just know one thing, that I have to put my heart and soul into my performance.”
