Manish Goplani, who is currently doing a cameo role of a pick pocket in Colors show, Belan Wali Bahu, is taking the quick end of his last lead show, Detective Didi, in his stride.
“I really don’t know what went wrong; maybe the public did not warm up to the detective story or we could not deliver what they wanted. But it’s fine, these things happen. I tried my best. My family and friends liked my work.”
Talking about his present avatar, he says, “It is really nothing big. When producer Dheeraj Sarna sir offered me this role, I immediately said yes, for he had given me my Bihan character in Thapki Pyaar Ki as well. He likes me in such rustic characters. I had great fun working with the entire team. I also liked the concept of the show, not run of the mill.”
Looking ahead, he is open to more interesting roles as an actor. “I want to do anything and everything. I would like to continue pushing the envelope. If Bihan was a good guy, Bhim Singh Bhullar (Detective Didi) was a quirky cop and now I play a pick-pocket.”
How would you feel if you got a real-life wife who is a klutz, like Krystal D’Souza’s character Roopa is in Belan Wali Bahu?
“Well, I am too young to think of taking a plug. If I meet a similar natured girl, I would keep a watch on her just like Dheeraj sir’s character does in the show- he comes back even after dying to improve Roopa.”
Manish, who had to stay in Delhi for a few months for Detective Didi, will not want to go to the capital or any other city for shooting. “Mumbai has the best infrastructure and human resources, as far as set shooting is concerned. “Here, everyone knows their job. For short outdoor schedules, we have many options. But for continuity, nothing beats Mumbai. I am so happy to be back”.
