If Udaan’s extension news is true, it will be a vindication of the love of our fans: Meera Deosthale

Meera Deosthale is expressing cautious optimism regarding the news of her popular Colors show, Udaan, getting a second lease of life. IWMBuzz had broken the news yesterday that Colors has reversed its earlier decision of ending this Guroudev Bhalla production, shifting it to 7 pm. The main reason for this change of heart is – you guessed it right – continuing good numbers.

“While I too have heard about the extension, I will not want to say anything until and unless we are officially informed about the same.”

“If it is indeed true, it will be a vindication of the love of our fans, who had bombarded us with requests for a little extension. Guess the powers to be acquiesced to the public demand.”

“Having said that, it was our good TRPs, and yes, equally good story, which might have been the eventual clincher.”

“Not shifting away from the original premise despite four years, when mostly stories go off on a completely different tangent, is our USP, which continues to hold us in good stead.”

How did you take the off air news when it first came out? “Well, I was completely disappointed, but then decided to do what was the best possible solution – keep working hard, so that we bow out with grace. I am glad we did not lose heart, and this might have played a small role in keeping the Udaan flag flying high.”

When asked about the new time slot, she says, “7 pm is a good one. Agreed, we will have to start from scratch to build an audience at this early evening slot, but I am sure loyal Udaan fans will not abandon us, especially since they themselves wanted to save the show in the first place.”
