‘Mompreneur’ Mitaali Nag is giving life to your memories

Mitaali Nag’s innovative business idea is the talk of the town…

Talented actor Mitaali Nag (Afsar Bitiya and Draupadi fame) has added another feather to her repertoire.  She has converted her hobby of making 3D sculptures of hands and legs of infants and adults into a business.

“This is my entrepreneurial debut called Sculpt by Mitaali Nag.  Being a new mother myself I understand parent’s desire to have keepsakes of the babies little hands and feet as souvenirs. The best part is that they are perfect replicas.”

Here Mitaali adds, “We don’t use clay or wax but a special imported gel which is completely safe for your infants.”

So how did Sculpt come about? “Like I said above, I also wanted memento for my son’s early days, just having video was not good enough.  So I came across life sculpting on the web, and ordered a ‘do it yourself’ kit.  To be honest, at first I was horrible with my son’s hands and feet, but later got the hang of it. I enjoyed the process so much. I decided to share the process with the world and thus Sculpt was born.  I took up proper lessons and also practiced more with Rudranssh (her son).  I have also done a perfect replica of my dog Kiwi. See, life is unpredictable, God forbid tomorrow your loved one’s may not be with you, so this is a nice way to retain precious memories.”

“I first started three months back in my hometown Nagpur (workshop and studio) and have got clients who are content with the work.  Now I have started in Mumbai as well.  I have just done the paws of well known TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi Bahu’s pet Shih Tzu called Angel.”

So how does she manage acting and sculpting? “Well, the actual molding does not take too much time, not more than 5 minutes for both hands.  The delivery takes around four to five weeks for it takes a while to design and the gel to dry and take shape.  I have an assistant who helps me.  I believe this product has a market, we just need to spread the word around.”

Looking ahead, Mitaali plans to expand by also sculpting faces and pregnant bellies as well. “But yes, I will always be an actor first.”

After a cameo in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, she is now looking  for interesting  projects be it, TV, films or web.
