Shruti Seth is looking forward to her new SAB TV show… TV, Biwi Aur Main. She exclaims, “ I play the wife of a TV producer essayed by my talented friend Karan Mehra. The story centers around the comedy errors which happen when his lives of a small screen producer and a family man clashes. Poor thing tries to find a balance between his heroin ,wife and mother. The biggest USP of the show is that today TV has become an integral part of most families, we identity with a particular character and shows and most men also have wives, the plot if quite pertinent. Also as we have kept the plot in a very relatable zone, I am sure viewers will give this show the same love and affection, as given to other hit SAB TV shows.”
Shruti, who has been around in TV space for the last 17 odd years, keeps doing stuff, takes break and then returns to action.
I am a lazy girl (smiles). Honestly being happy as a model and an anchor, I did not want to do TV back in 2000, but then decided to try out Maan to see if I had the acting gene. The game completely changed with Shararat. I next had high hopes from rishtha.com on Sony, but sadly it did not work out. My next big assignment was hosting Comedy Circus which went on for 17 seasons . The Shararat image was somewhat broken by another big hit The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir. All in all I have been lucky to have been able to choose memorable shows which have leftindelible marks in people’s lives.”
Here Shruti accepts that she has been kind of tagged as the funny girl, “No one offers me something else.”
This kind of typecasting is one more reason that Shruti has stayed away from cinema, “ After Rajneeti, I started getting similar kind of characters, ditto with the khadoos wife character in My Friend Twinkle. I don’t hanker for the medium, as an actor I need juicy roles be it theater, cinema, TV or the new age digital medium ,” she ends.
