Sonali Nikam the talented actress is engaging her audiences and fans with her striking display in Colors’ Harphoul Mohini. She plays the role of Shalini who is very frank and opinionated in her speech.
In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Sonali talks about her role and much more.
How exciting is it for you to play Shalini?
I am excited about playing Shalini because of her costume. I have never worn such kind of a Haryanvi costume with maang tika. She is a very smart woman who never shies away from speaking her mind. She is sweet, and beautiful but can taunt a person in a cheesy way. However, whatever she speaks, is the truth. I am happy to have got to play a Haryanvi character and speak the language.
How was your preparation like to get the diction right in the role?
I did not take any specific class to get the diction. Saw a few Hindi films with a Haryanvi background. I tried to get the diction right. Considering that I just had to pick up the tone of the Haryanvi dialect and use it in Hindi, I tried practising it.
You are shooting with some experienced actors. How is it going?
Working with Supriyaji is fabulous. She is very passionate about work. We enjoy her company. I get motivated to do better when I see her in action.
What are the takeaways that you have from your character?
Whenever I wear this costume and go on the set, I transform myself into Shalini who is quite harsh with her words. Sonali is not like this at all.
Is there a dream role that you look forward to?
My dream role will be the female version of Ranbir Kapoor in the film Barfi.
How is the response got for Shalini?
The response for Shalini has been very good. Our writer is also very happy with the way I am putting in my efforts. I am thankful to all for giving me this opportunity.
Will you be keen on reality shows? If yes what kind?
I will want to do reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa or any other decent ones.
